To Highlight or Not to Highlight

Bills and supporting documentation are scanned during the bill review and payment process. Use of highlighters are strongly discouraged because highlighting shows as a blackout on an image rather than “showcasing” the item or line. We recommend circling or drawing an arrow using black or blue ink to any item you want to “showcase” on a bill or document. Red ink or pencil is dropped out of any document sent through the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanning process.
