Non-Patient Hospital Outpatient Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Test Payment and Billing – New Guidance

The Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) has published new guidance for outpatient diagnostic laboratory tests. This guidance will supersede the guidance published 6/30/14.
Hospital laboratory services that meet the criteria in the guidance can now be billed under TOB 131 with L1 modifier. Both TOB 141 and the L1 modifier will be accepted until July 1, 2016 when the TOB 141 will no longer be accepted.
